Intern Program



Overview

The practical training program overview

 Definitions:

"Candidate" - is the term used for individuals who have applied to the Intern Program
"Intern" is the term used for Candidates who have been accepted into the Program AND have been placed with a U.S. company.
"Host Company" and "Employer" are the terms used for the company employing and paying the salary to you.
DOS” is the Department of State, U.S. Agency who governs the guidelines for the J-1 Visa.
All-Inclusive Program” is the type of Internship program for candidates that want to match with a host company through ASSE’s host company search
Self-Placed Program” is the type of Internship for candidates that already found a host company at time of application but still need ASSE to be their sponsor organization.

Program Basics

There are two different options that you can choose for your Internship depending on your needs. If you would like to be in an internship you need to make sure that a position is secured with a host company. You would also need to obtain sponsorship for your visa so that you can legally participate in the program, and you would need to have adequate medical insurance.

The Self-Placed Program
The Self-Placed Program was developed for applicants that have already found a host company, and the Host Company has offered an Internship to the applicant. Now that you have a company, you need to find a sponsor organization in order to legally participate in the program. Since ASSE Aspire is an accredited organization that can sponsor you, ASSE Aspire can provide the following for Self-Placed Trainees:



The All-Inclusive Program
The All-Inclusive Program was developed for applicants that would like to participate in the Intern Program but would like to use ASSE Aspire’s services to find a host company for them. ASSE Aspire will use your qualifications and search for host companies for you. For the All-Inclusive Program, ASSE Aspire provides the following services in addition to the services listed for the Self-Placed Program:



This Program Does Not Include Costs for:
o  Transportation - Including transport to and from the U.S., and any transportation during the program.- Cost of airline ticket (cost varies).

o  Cost of local housing (cost varies).- Including a security deposit for housing that is usually equal to first and last month’s rent.

o  Meals

o  All other expenses the participant incurs while participating in this program.

o  Health insurance during the 30 day grace period at the end of the program
